95 vwt4.
After standing on the drive for months the front was binding.
Had a look, caliper sliders were totally dry, one took an hour to get out and head got damaged in the process.
Cleaned them up and got them sliding fine, fitted back in to try them until I got new sliders.
The brakes worked but weren't impressive, I know it's an old van and brakes are a bit better nowerdays but had to give a fair bit of pressure.
Anyway today I'm replacing the sliders,
The bottom ones are different than all the ones specified for the van now,the bottom ones are stepped down at the end.
The ones I'm taking out could be the wrong ones anyway, don't know, the new ones fit fine.
On taking the wheel off the disc wouldn't move without me turning it with the wheel brace, the pads are new last year,
The piston will move back with a g clamp ok.
I don't know how much contact newish pads should make, should the wheels move without any effort?
I cleaned the disc up with meths, all I had, wondering if it's left a coating, or the pistons are gripping,or both or something else.. the pads seem to be sitting ok, cleaned up the calipers and greased the contact points.
Whats next to try?
Cheers.
