Bought a generator, recognise it?

On the way home from work a couple of weeks ago there was a largeish genny outside someones house with a A4 bit of paper saying ‘free’. It was on the other side of the road on a bend so I could not swing across safely, so I went another 100 yards turned around and went back and it had gone!!

Hi all im looking for help on this generator and engine.. i bought one as a non runner also a bit more then 60 pounds.. had to get a new starter and low oil pressure switch . i need help with wiring as i have noting lighting up when i turn the key ! i wired it up as was i can spin the engine , it hasnt fired yet i want to have all the wiring right first ,, has anyone any wiring diagram for this same genertor ot photos of the key wiring ect..

if the control panel that shows the light for the low oil , fuel ect doesnt light would it be broke.

I have agreed to buy a gennerator, non runner, does anyone recognise the engine? said to be Yanmar but suspect it is a Yamachingy, said to have a lot of blowby and non starting, the seller has replaced the starter solenoid and fitted a new key switch, thought it was worth a go for £60.00 as I was looking for a home standby.
Now thinking it looks a lot like a Pramac P6000?
Anyone taken one of these engines apart? rings?

That's a Pramac P6000 yes.
It's a PITA to find and worse to read... but there should be a Yanmar dataplate with a lengthy engine code & serial number. Its tucked away underneath the exhaust manifold IIRC.
It's a 10hp Yanmar L100 - but Yanmar have myriad variants so you need the numbers to source correct parts for it.
(Yanmar parts aren't cheap either!).
It is at least a proper European built set with a genuine Yanmar motor, and a European alternator (a MeccAlte I think)

This evening if have made some progress.. with buypassing all control panel and wiring up the diesel pump directly to power as I tured the key(which i wired directly to the starter) the engine fired up! And ran well.. while running I tested the generator part by plugging in 110v and 220v components and that all work .. my issue is when I wire it up the way I think it is menr to be nothing is firing or light up on the control panel..

Cheers for that.. I'm a member on this group already! . I need to figure out the wiring side who ever has it before me messed with it i don't know what wires should be where.. you hardly have photos of behind your panel?

I had no wiring issues so did not take many pictures and where my machine is installed it is not that easy to dismantle in the winter!

Genny was delivered today, delivery was included in the price! looking on ebay it does seem to look very much like a Pramac P6000 or P6000s but looking on generator guru parts section I cannot see an engine listed with the same rocker cover.
Tomorrow I will buy a battery and see what works and what does not! it has been got at by the seller, he has fitted a rebuilt starter motor, new ign switch, fuel filter but has removed the fuel pipe that Tee'd off the supply to the pump and I think went to the injector leakoff pipe, he was told it was not reqd. what are your thoughts and would it have had a restrictor to prevent all the fuel returning to the tank? my engine is the right picture. left picture is a Pramac P6000s from ebay, said to be a Yanmar engine.............my fuel tank has a 2013 date.

Yup a Pramac 6000 not s version.

Engine sould be a yanmar L100 but often swapped for a clone after about 2-3k hours.
Had a few 6000s's in the past. So can help if your still having issues.

was it yanmars which had different tappet settings for electric start or pull start? I remember being involved with a diesel engine on a pressure washer that would not start with the tappers set for the other mode of starting.

Yep. Draw the pull cord slowly till its up on compression. Let the cord back in. Depress the auto-releasing decompressor lever on the rocker cover.
Then (with the fuel lever latched "ON") - a long steady strong pull (not yanked) will see a healthy L100 fire up first time.
