, but you are correct it is indeed an old lathe that i bought for 250 euros and arrived all taken apart in boxes, but however there is no play in the carriage, there is however a bit of play in the cross slide along the bolt axis, but that I've read that that is normal?Thanks for all the tips guys, i checked the boring bar for signs of rubbing and couldn't find any so it looks like it's not rubbing. A HSS internal boring bar isn't expensive, I'll give one of those a try next time i need to do small diameter internal work.
