The points I was actualy initialy makeing was about the complexty of the situation to expect one single thing to stop all the enviromental issues is just a nonsence, much can be done by the avarage punter, Iv put a huge amount of insulation In my old 50s built house, It now takes little more than the wood burner to keep it warm on a cold day plus the 120 watts of heat me and and the Mrs produce, It infurates me when every winter the press does the same old story with an old dear huddled around a one bar fire freezing, If govement policy takled the problem correctly the house would hardly need heating, Iv also been involved in heat pumps and a customer of mine wants me to have a go at making a woodchip biomass heater, for his house(product cost is zero to him)the princible is simple, Its a real wish of mine to start producing power from wind, It continualy blows off the easturys a still day is around 5mph, Out of very little material a decent sized turbine can be made to produce 10kva at 15mph... I am no eco warrior simply thrifty, If the truck can run on a waste product then so be it thats another saveing hydrogen powers all good and dandy but it has little practicalty to a fabricator running a 12 year old truck... The scandanavians are practiced at this with each comunity decideing at a local level on the cheepest method to heat, recycle, and power there homes, a system which works well.

I have made Bio before.

Basics were 33g Sodium Hydrodide / 1L Methanol
= Sodium methoxide
Add to 5l Veg oil, separate, then wash the soap out.

Problem i found was getting rid of the Glycerine.

I never said Monsanto was the sole player,i said they invented it.Glyphosate is the ingredient in almost every herbicide.Root out was removed this year because the EU wanted more animal testing done with it,the chemical hadnt changed since the original animal testing years ago and the MD refused to have it tested on 6 beagles.All the companies with chemicals containing Glyphosate agreed to a lot of duplicate testing.The EU wouldnt accept the original testing.The seed companies are making more than a shilling from the farmers.The issues are complex but your view that GM and glyphosate can be part of the solution are extremely flawed.The real problems will begin to show in about twenty years .We need to think of what we leave the children and stop just living for today.Most of the people making the decisions will be long dead when the SXXX hits the fan............

Anyway guys . Quite interesting. In times of peace people find other things to worry about.When war comes along, that and foxhunting goes out the window. People only ever talk of the future.........no one knows what will happen unless you`re Leonardo Da Vinci........maybe he just got lucky.

Why the fixation with the future? Do you think you can control it?. Maybe like controlling the weather. Man is always trying to control something.

It is the people of the future who will solve and tackle the problems .....not us.

Sparky it seem's your argument is based around a hatred for Monsanto, I assume you have reasons, But useing whats around us FREE, waste oil, wood ,wind, Earth power, Just makes scence not so much enviromentaly but in your back pocket, It can save £££££ to make use of whats around us on a riseing oil price I know that my house is reletivly cheep to run. I could go onto talk more about the benifits of GM but it's doing little more than draging this thread into one corner....Its an argument I dont think will ever be resolved I have one opinion you have another..

Good finds chaps, Have you seen anything more industrial sized? Space is not an issue, Iv also soon to scavange the old steam boiler used to heat the oil in the plant currently, Its huge overkill, but hey big is best as they say

Fantastic, I really have to sit down for a couple of days and wade through all this stuff, When I did the initial build for the customer to heat and water seperate the oil, we were far too small scale his production is 60,000 ltrs a week.... Iv spent a few weeks each year putting more and more tanks pits and platforms in, Should have gone much bigger in the first place.

Rises in suicide since when?. Is that not like rises in temperature in that it is all since records began.Is suicide a new thing? Are the chemical imbalances that cause it a result of Monosodium Glutimate since Pot Noodle was introduced?. Judas Escariot did that 2000 Yrs ago along with thousands of others of his generation who never got their two minutes of fame.

Human rights abuses more than EVER? That is strong. More than Cambodia or the Holocaust. More than when the Romans swept everyone under the carpet before their famous justice was installed or when Alexander the Great did much the same

If you think this is a time of war, you really need to read some history books, and you don't need to go back very far - remember the cold war? Not so cold for many.

Personally I have little argument with what you say, but I think you need to try and see the big picture. Snowcat is trying to do his bit, but you seem to object to that. He has his opinions about gm crops, and his positive arguments seem reasonable. There are arguments against companies like Monsanto and their monopolising seed stock, but you shouldn't throw the baby out with the bathwater, dude. It's all about balance.
