I'm never going to exceed 32 amp with my usage, Not got any heavy machinery like most other people on here! YET
Yeess why notAre you sure? It's input rating is twice the supply to most houses! IIRC it tops 300kg too.
Fixed that for you Ashley, always best to future proof
Bob
I was joking buddy ,i dont want a machine that big haha ,i want something like a miller migmatic 380 ,but i doubt il be able to run one from home just at workCan you honestly say it's not too big? I got it off eBay a few years ago for £250, all I've done is dismantle and clean it, I still haven't gotten around to getting a 63A socket fitted so I've not tested it (I didn't see the point in wasting a 13A fuse trying it with a normal plug). I'd like £200 back for it if you really want it but I'd like some other members to try to talk you out of it first.
If you take the transformer out, you can actually get inside it! Don't ask why I know that but it should give you an idea of the size of the thing.![]()
Before you go putting in heavy duty wiring & circuits for welders you would need to check what your mains supply can deliver.
I live in the country & our supply comes across country high voltage & is stepped down by a transformer on the electricity pole. It was originally fitted with a 5kva transformer (I think) & when I was welding or the shower was used the lights would dim! It was upgraded to a 12kva & we no longer suffer voltage drop plus my welder has visibly more power than before.![]()
I was just asking to find out what i can run from home as i know someone who gets second hand welders alotThere is a theoretical one and a real one. If you have 32am type fused hook up I suggest 250 amp (which is pretty much in line with what the big brands offer) Esab. Lorch, kempi,, Lincoln etc.
Now if you need to weld more than that can handle at a long duty cycle I suggest a three phase genny or lashing the cash on three phase supply
Three phase won't be cheap to put in and you will also be stung with the new energy tax if they class you as a buisness..
What are you planning to do ?
Always welcome to pop by of a weekend to use the lathe and mill for odd jobs mate.No Lathe or Milling Machine for me I'm afraid. Not got the space or requirements for either. Would rather pay someone to do any job required
Would probably be easier for me to give you some drawings, As I wouldn't know where to start!Always welcome to pop by of a weekend to use the lathe and mill for odd jobs mate.
Haha. Im not much better. Learning everytime I use it. Thats the reason I bought it though.Would probably be easier for me to give you some drawings, As I wouldn't know where to start!![]()
A friend of mine lives way out in the sticks , his supply which also feeds the neighbour comes in on poles and looks like a piece of string . No way in the world has he got more than 60 amps between the two properties.
Bob
The NIE engineer told me that the 12 kva transformers are the smallest they install and are designed to feed 2 properties.
