That’s normally always caused by too much weight at the rear of the trailer behind the trailers axle, not by too much nose weight on the trailer.

All LT230s can have a PTO output. Just need to do some plasma cutting to get the drive out. Or a bit simpler albeit lossy, shove a hydraulic pump on there and do hydraulic drive.

Not sure where they robbed the drive from on those driven trailers, it certainly wouldn't have come off the back of the transfer case because of the ratio changes in the transfer gears and then again in the hi/lo range. They must have taken drive pto from the lower plate to get correct wheel speed in hi/lo.

Too much weight on the hitch makes the tow vehicle steering light…..I had a fright in my navara pulling a trailer of walling stone. It didnt want to go round tight corners.

All well and good for the experienced towists among us that have learned the hard way and survived our ordeals in years gone by on much quieter roads. The newer uninformed,inexperienced and untrained are now allowed to tow on much busier roads, cant believe they dropped the trailer training requirement.

I hadn't done much towing when I bought my boat. Triple axle trailer. Bang on 3500kg. As long as an artic but 9'2" wide. I did pretty well considering.
Worst trailers for reversing are those little Halfords jobs you can't even see.

This is fair but how many 20 year olds do you see towing a big trailer? Not many round here unless they are farmers. This is very true, I much prefer towing our 13'x5' fully loaded than our 5'x3'
Had to reverse the little one round a tight spot into our back garden last week multiple times moving a load of heavy paving slabs, around trees and through a spot only just wide enough for the car and trailer. I was hanging out the door for most of it trying to see where the trailer was.

I bet this Harvey Frost crane would give them a run for the money, the axle was that close to the tow hitch it would lock round as soon as I started reversing

It's easier to unhook my little trailer and push it than it is to reverse it anywhere. I can reverse trailers as I used to be a shunter/sheeter when lorries had to be sheeted and roped and our trailers came in different lengths from 28ft to 36ft. The shunt unit we used was a Ford D800 with knackered drag links and a clutch you had to stand up on to press

Indeed it would.
That's one of the reasons I am building this trailer. Nothing to tow it with yet though

I seem to recall the pto Drive for the 101 did bolt onto the bottom plate rather than out the back, but I could be wrong. I believe one of the main reasons they stopped the powered trailer project was squaddies bogging the motor, and instead of engaging diff lock, just engaging the trailer, which then proceeded to push the Landy over as it Jack knifed!
Clamp a wider thin piece of wood across the back dof the trailer nect time. You can see it quick enough to compensate the steering input then

We had the crawler and implements on an excavator trailer with a Ford Ranger. Great truck, strong pulling power. Probably about a ton of iron here, the crawler is 650kg and the discs likely made up the rest.
I’m 30 and my brother in law is 25. There are a few of us crazy young ones pulling trailers with old rubbish on!
