I've never bought a centre punch that I actually liked! They're all either too small, or not hard enough. For the last few years I've been using a broken jobber drill, worked well enough but was still too small to hold properly.
I got this idea from a guy at work who had made his own.
Acquire one long straight SDS-max chisel bit (quality not cheap)
Cut in half
Sharpen the ends
