In your line of work a 20 is no good. Cup too small for a start really. You need something beefier ideally for walking up them side walls.Watercooled definitely the way to go, agree with that.
A 17 Would probably be ok welding sheetmetal though, say for sanitary or kitchen work, as rarely over 50 amps.
Is suprisingly easy to burn out aircooled though, even a wp26 torch. Done in quite a few when working on site before now (run of of a HF box hooked up to a generator) especially flex heads.
Personally im not all that keen on the smaller 20 size, but only because we use wp18 torches at work, most places ive worked have used them, so its what im used to.
Although I think if i ever get setup working from home or anything like that, i would go with a 20. Think an 18 would be overkill for diy and small bits and bobs lol
Also lots on here seem to get on with them really well.
