Best way to flog a load of imperial spanners / sockets?

I also have about 40 odd witworth sockets and rachet but I wouldn't be arsed selling em for buttons,not worth the hassle of raking in less than £15?

picture of the square sockets 8 sides by britool i bought in the 70sthe biggest socket set brown bros had has to pay it out of my wages for the next year

Cheers for those photo's. First time I've ever seen any of those. I know the 12 point types can be used for square, but they're usually quite skinny between the points, whereas those appear to have some good meat there. Wouldn't trust one of the 12's to not round the corners on a tight square head. Yet another thing to keep my eye out for now.

well if you want them make a offer by pm also have some that are Hex drive in a metal box set

I strongly suspect you are correct. But...

I have a load of kit that i dont want. So i have three options -

a) landfill
b) sell them
c) give them away

i think that (c) may almost be as much trouble as (b) and, if im not carefull, the end result would be (a) anyhow!

Ill number them, photograph them, and put them about the place - see what happens. I dont think ill meet minimum wage for my troubles, but, hey...


(and, yes, ill give the folk who've mentioned it on this thread the details as soon as i get it all together)


...found a few more king dick / brittol sockets earlier. 15/8ths and some similar sized.

My dad has, or had a set of hex drive Britool sockets though I have not seen them for thirty odd years.
Edit: He is in Yorkshire too, perhaps they were popular in that part of the world.

I'm in the market for building up my stock of Whitworth spanners and sockets. Got a lister JP3m to rebuild next year.

I ordered some write on cable ties off ebay for the princely sum of £2.

When they turn up, ill number them all, photograph, and catalogue everything.
