It's sheet metal, you'll get away with a battery drill, it's hardly precision machining. The worst you'll have to worry about is snapping a a tap
make a tight wood block just as support the tool looks the job quality tap & cutting fluid.
Suspect you have other projects that require small tapped holes so a good bit of kit to have around
John Stevenson used to use a tapping head mounted on a set of articulated arms...
As it's thin sheet in mild it might be worth using a fluteless tap, gives stronger threads....
No it’s not. OSG is a premium Japanese cutting tool manufacturer who has been around the 1940’sOsg is Osborn, part of Europa tools so, should be decent.
Ask @MattH if anyone knows it wil be him.Who knows, but I kind of doubt it.
The laser is such a localised heat. The moment it isn't localised the finish would fail. So, possibly the very surface, but it would be such a thin layer.
But, in truth, I don't really know, but my feeling is no.
Drill taps would do that either in a drill press or out.The part is very similar to one of these -

The holes I need to tap are around that internal rim.
It's folded in 1.5steel and the rim is actually a bit narrower than the one in the photo.
Do you think the deflection / vibration will be an issue? I'd assume not, but if I knew, I wouldn't be asking! : )
