For me, the best car in the world is always the next one
I like what I drive now - a jag XF S. Comfy, fast, best sound system I've ever experienced, but it's missing "something".
A tweed jacket and pipe.
Cheques in the post for that my friendYou are mostly all wrong
Land Rover is the best car in the world
I scrapped an E reg 200TDi Defender as it had rotten chassis & bulkhead. To be fair it only cost me £600 and I got £800 back for the engine with another £300 from somebody who had the rest as sparesNope, see my previous commentit is a wonderful piece of British engineering and will out last most other vehicles that were produced in 1987

I've been beaten to the obvious reply by too many now . . .
That is just poor maintenance and not looking after it. No vehicle will last if you abuse them and don't clean the crap out of the drain holes etcI scrapped an E reg 200TDi Defender as it had rotten chassis & bulkhead. My old boss had one of them as a company car. I took it to Germany a few times, and I have to say it was impressive. One trip was Bradford to NEC for a trade show . . . then onto Dover . . . crossed the channel in the early hours and onto Aachen - arrived feeling pretty good, tired, but no aches and pains from crap driving position etc. Came back loaded up with spare tyres for my car, and crates of beer for work colleagues - spread though the car to keep it riding level - just as comfy trip back home.... and, from the days when Toyota could offer reliability and a bit of style and excitement https://media.toyota.co.uk/vehicles/celica-archive-1999/
and... let's not forget the car that caused BMW to destroy a UK brand not matter how much it cost them; https://www.aronline.co.uk/facts-and-figures/buying-guide/buying-guide-rover-600/
Farming relatives have owned them . . . a series 1 or 2 109 was the first vehicle I ever "drove" - on hand throttle, sat on my mum's lap aged not a lot (one of my earliest memories in-fact) while my grandad legged it along behind dragging hay bales out and spreading them for cattle feed - and that means I have have never, ever, wanted to own one - I've preferred reliable cars, so I've owned mostly Italian stuff since I was 18and you would be wrong just like all the rest![]()
Indeed you speak as you find. I have only owned one Italian vehicle, a Fiat Doblo. Fraught with electrical issues and finally died when the body cracked across the floor. Less than 60k on the clock. I would never buy anotherFarming relatives have owned them . . . a series 1 or 2 109 was the first vehicle I ever "drove" - on hand throttle, sat on my mum's lap aged not a lot (one of my earliest memories in-fact) while my grandad legged it along behind dragging hay bales out and spreading them for cattle feed - and that means I have have never, ever, wanted to own one - I've preferred reliable cars, so I've owned mostly Italian stuff since I was 18
Current Lancia integrale, owned for the last 18 years is on 200,000, been used, abused, left outside all the time (still out there now, cooking . . ) - all seats other than drivers taken out to be used a van, towbar to drag caravans, trailers, cars, stuck cars in winter . . .
Other half is amazed/mortified what happens when out in it . . . lad at side of road into Leeds last week, phone out, videoing/photoing us going by, bloke at prop place came out to see it and chat, lad at upvc window/door hardware place came out before I even made it to the door to look at it . . .
Previous one made similar mileage over 10 yrs and had similar treatment. I have to say that one was trouble. . . a front indicator bulb failed, and it failed to proceed one evening . . traced to crap earth connection between engine and bodyshell.

Current Lancia integrale.
I feel quite at home here with all you guys running about in cars worse than the ones on the pile where I take my scrap
Bob
The very few reviews I've seen say very similar.I’m really trying to resist a new Yaris GR
Had a proper go in one the other night and it’s the closest thing I know to my old integrale
Proper 4WD weapon with lsd’s front and rear, probably the last proper custom made homologation special that’ll ever be made.
It’s really rather special
I think I've only had a few issues from a reliability point - that earth cable in my first integrale, and a Lancia Beta HPE that randomly turned its head lights off - and a clean of the fusebox sorted that.I got a laugh out of that.
Mate of mine had one a few years ago, said it was a bit lairy. Binned it into a ditch on its roof one night. Would be worth a small fortune now.
It only shares the headlamps, tail lamps, mirror casings and antenna fin with the Std Yaris !!The very few reviews I've seen say very similar.
Not a homologation special as such I think, but very definitely in the same spirit - so all credit to Toyota. The sort of thing Citroen should have done during all the success years with Loeb, but didn't.
It’s also a very analogue car, which is what reminded me of the ‘GraleThe very few reviews I've seen say very similar.
