Bench drill info needed!

make Record no DMD24A & DMD 28 not sure which.
got a wobble on my chuck.
what has happened is that while drilling (using forstner bit) oak wood it got jammed in and struggled to get it out.
obviously turn the drill on wobble wobble.
try as I might I cannot rove the chuck.
there's no slot in the main body so it cannot be driven out.
there is how ever what look like 2 flat sided on the shaft that looks to me for spanner use.
thinking this will be a screw in type.
the rotation of the drill is clock wise so to me this should undo whacking it with chuck in clock wise.
it will not budge at all or using a ball joint remover and that doesn't work.
instruction manual tells my nothing inc drawing on how it is fitted.
it look to me it is one whole shaft.?
before I do anything drastic I need advice from those who know.
you tube videos aren't much help either.

Any writing on the chuck itself?

If it rotates clockwise (standard right hand drill bits), you need to undo it anti-clockwise.

It is hugely unlikely to be part of the spindle. Drill chucks need quite tricky machining and trying to tool up to make one with a long shaft sticking out of the top of it would be uneconomic.

At worst, you could remove the entire spindle, heat up the chuck while keeping the spindle cool (wet rag). That would break any loctite on a threaded one or loosen the taper on a tapered one. If that failed, use a lathe to turn off the chuck.

open the jaws and look inside the chuck, sometimes there is a fixing screw there. if it is a Jacobs chuck it may have a J followed by a number like J2 etc, this indicates a Jacobs taper fitting.

That begs the question of what letter would be on my Rohm chuck? Or my Vertex chuck?

no writing on chuck. no internal chuck screw is mention in the instruction booklet.
so it looks to me to be a threaded chuck. so I'll give that a try tomorrow.

It could be a Morse in the main shaft and a Jacobs into the chuck. can you see down the end of the drive spindle? they can be a little darling to remove, a very long drift can be required if they didn't put a wedge window in the shaft.

You could have bent the spindle.

My Meddings Drilltru is on a taper. It has a very slight wobble from being hit to remove a previous chuck. I contacted Meddings several years ago for a new quill shaft. The serial number gave the buyer as my father in 1960... But no spares available.
Recently I was given a twin, but later drill. The wobble in the first is not really a problem so continue to use it.

tried a 13mm allen key in the chuck and will not budge.
yesterday I used a ball joint remover.
I whack it hard but still no joy.
looking at the main shaft thats has a tiny wobble.
it was never smooth to start with but good enough for drilling as it didn't affect accurately,not that I notice any way.
got it given by brightspark(alan) so I gave the drill that I had to my son.
it has done a lot of work over the years so I think its time I bought a new one.
I don't do any heavy work any more just the odd drilling.
thinking of buying a dirty pro drill only £75.
it has a 350 wt motor and for £45 more I can get a 450 wt.

Apologies if I'm stating the obvious, but if it's still in the drill, and you are looking down on the chuck, you are whacking it anti-clockwise (from above)? - so if you looked up at it from the table, you would be trying to undo a left hand thread correctly clockwise?

I'm not going to mess on with it any more.
I'll just buy a new one.
I'll try and sell it on Face book for say £20.
if it doesn't go I'll just take the motor off and any bits that might be useful.

The instruction manual tells you everything you need to know! Chuck mounted on JT6 taper spindle. You need wedges.

JT6 as @6ply says. Make a U shaped fork, weld a handle on it, grind U till it is wedge shape and drive in between the chuck and shaft.

the chuck screws are put in with threadlock and are a left hand thread to tighten...open chuck fully and apply some heat up to screw to soften threadlock and turn it RIGHT to undo.

It's JT6 so I doubt there is a retaining screw. The taper should hold itself.

it is well and truly stuck. the whole shaft started to come out and not the tapered bit.
knock it back in but now it sound a bit rough in other words it is knackered.
this the tool that I used see below.
anyway I've decided to buy a new drill and be done with.
going to remove the motor for other use.
the middle table I'll use that on my new drill .
going to put a piece of wood on it and have assorted drill bits and forstner bits etc. the rest in the bin for the scrap man.
