Beko Washing Machine - doing my head in!

Is the heating element actually heating the water? Our dishwasher burnt the power tracks out on the PCB for the heating element and would time out and drain the water. We have a Beko washing machine, super quiet compared to the Indesit and Hotpoint we had previously.

I had a very similar problem on my indesit washer dryer.
I had two actually one I fixed by changing a burnt out resistor on the control board with a higher rated one Cost 40p!
The second fault which might be more pertinent to your problem was the later one.
On the indesit there is a remote motor control board instead of the motor mounted one shown in your pic. The white (schrack on yours, takima on mine) relay was the problem. Mine had two one of which was faulty, so I replaced both and the motor ran. I can't quite remember the cost but it was only a few quid. I suspect the problem may have been caused initially by a weak solder joint (bad enough on a remote board but worse or more likely on a motor mounted one like yours) or it may have been the relay contact itself heating up and causing the joint to fail.

There are very few of this type of motor on eBay. I suspect if you put in Indesit or Hoover you'll get the same number of hits! If nothing else if the motors are on eBay then something else has gone wrong!

I'd still like to be sure it's the motor before committing to over £130 for a new one.

Regardless of what I try, the drum never moves. Hot, cold, spin or self test.
I've changed the control board with no effect and replaced one pressure sensor.
I've checked continuity of the 5 wires to the motor and there is 240v when I expect it.
There's really very little else it can be now but the motor!

watch out for your size of drum they have changed the sizes alot compared to old machines

as ive found out when looking for a new machine myself biggest drum was a Zanussi 10kg but im not happy with its wash cycles it has on it
hotpoint or hoover cant remember which ones but i have the photos of the machines which we found was biggest drums

I personally wouldn't bother spending any more money or time on this, the machine isn't worth it. If it was a top brand machine like a bosch or meile they are worth repairing. A washing machine repair man once told me you can go into Currys & buy the cheapest machine in the shop but you will be lucky to get 2 years from it before it wears out or you can get a meile or bosch and get 6 years plus use with minimal servicing.

I bought a Samsung 'ecobubble' machine half price at a place in Bolton that specialises in 'new damaged' white goods. It's a drier too and should have been almost £700 and we got it for £300. Best of all it had no damage we could find and came with the Samsung 10 year warranty on the 'direct drive digital motor'. It's whisper quiet and my wife mainly uses the 15 minute wash!! I would recommend one to anybody.

^^^^same as above sorry to say ours always goes on the bearings washing done atleast 1 a day but can be 5 times in a day so gets a lot of use 20 min washes as long as its just general clothes heavy dirty hour wash

they last about 2.5 years the last 6months year ish the drum is going and yo can hear it we use it untill the noise gets realy bad or we come across a cheap deal last 9kg washing mechine cost 190 that was near xmas last year

Our first zanussi last 17 years, only got changed as we had our first kid on the way and felt it might not cope with the extra work load. Bought another Zanussi, it gave up the ghost in under 4 years. The next machine gave up just after the warranty ran out. The drum broke. The present one is an indesit and going well, on three times a day. As others have said they are only built to last a short while unless you buy real quality

^^^^^ yep if its a pressure switch or £30/40 fix its done if not its taken apart son sells the drum as a garden burner for a £10 on selling site and i take the rest to scrap when im there next

Bought a blomberg condensing dryer from your local colin smiths man a couple of years ago .a thats german that should be good
Awee while back mrs saays funny noise oot the dryer had a look thinkin belt mb funny smell too big sticky flypaper had exploded out its housing like a jack in the box
Yep you guessed inline supply capacitor toast . Phones shop aw well its actualy a beko and no we dont have spares .more research and reads big recall on this model houses burnt down etc
Phones beko service and told yours should be ok serial no etc yes the olders had a faulty cap
Sourced a new unit from buyspares .co .uk .exelent service arrived next day. ah but this one lots bigger and metal casing obviously the upgraded one .so be aware j
Im told by a mate in the trade that beko have got the white goods market stitched up with thier cheap turkish made goods

On my way to the shed one morning I saw this Beko washer on the pavement, thought it looked ok. It was still there at dinner time and still there at night (put out for scrappie I think) so as our old one was starting to make rumbling noises around the drum bearings area, i loaded it in the back of the car, took it to the shed and tried it. All ok apart from very slow spin, took the pump apart and found a match stick stuck sound in the impeller. Removed it and all working fine. Delighted I swapped it for the one in the house and that is the one we use today. Beko Excellence WMB 81241 LW

They don't come cheaper than that.

I agree with the 'buy a new machine advice', certainly wouldn't commit another £130 (which is probably more like £15 motor + £5 control board).

Sell your new control board for £35+

used to pickup scrap mechines when the scrap value was at the 100 plus mark if seen one at side of road give a knock say is it scrap they say yea be my guest did get a few that only need simple fixes mostly blocked as the years gone on and vids on the internet they more few and far between and scrap value only near covers petrol so generaly dont bother

I got my first washing machine off a neighbour, it was just over a year old (out of warranty) and wasn't pumping so I gave him £10 for it, found a 1p coin jamming the pump so it cost me £9.99 for a machine that lasted for years

Not quite the end....

It's been replaced with a brand new Indesit at £236 delivered, installed this morning. I got a refund on the control board I bought.

But I haven't ditched the Beko yet - I've given myself 6 months to try and get a motor (or more probably a motor electronics board) for £35 or less and see if that was the problem. If it then works I'll have a spare machine and satisfaction of having fixed it. If not, it will go for re-cycling!
