Quasi-arc are a good welding machine , with a bit of practice you should be ok

If you are tempted by a 16A connection it makes sense to look into 32A and 63A. I'd look at the lettering on that blue plug.

Gear designed to be used every day by people earning their crust from using it, is likely to be easier to use and with less hassles. A bad workman always blames his tools. The reverse side is that a good workman can't blame his tools because he's bought the best he can find.

Quality stuff designed as quality stuff from the off, always has an edge. That welder wouldn't exactly have been a hobby machine when it was sold. New technology creeps up on older technology as well.

However, I think you are also dismissing the extent to which your skill is improving.

wish i had one on my oil cooled welder cant think why mind it will never be emptied .after 40 years i checked it and the oil was fine

its a wonder it hasnt been swapped for an old metal plug and put in the scrap bag !

had another go tonight easy to start no sticking with this mechine 3.2 rod 112 amps burned it well even melted a piece of 3 mm

i change the cable on the 16 amp to 13 plug converter cable i scraped a cooker and removed the cable to use it its a lot better as the old cable got warm to the touch

There's a difference between cable and flex and you should be using suitably heavy flex.

wouldnt have thought u could get flat twin and earth fixed wiring 6.0mm cable in a 13 amp plug that i would like to see 2.5mm max flex in a 13 amp plug
