If at the start of work there are 2 fully charged batteries. Battery No1 goes flat after X number of hours and is put on charge. When battery No2 is put in the hedge trimmer, will battery No I be fully charged when when No 2 battery goes flat?I have the Makita XGT, I cannot use it long enough to run the battery out (5Ah) without taking a break. You could run it all day on two batteries no issue if rotating charge, it doesn’t eat batteries at anywhere near the rate of the strimmer, chainsaw etc but it’s got decent guts.
???I've had an Sthil HSE 71 corded hedge trimmer for many years, and a couple of yrs old Sthil HLA 56 pole trimmer.
The corded one I would say is a good as a hedge trimmer can be, the pole one is well built but annoyingly less powerful, and although reasonably well balanced, it's weight is a problem. The battery life is fine but I've never flattened one due to the weight problem, but it's much easier than lugging the steps and extension leads around.
Not sure I'd buy one now if I'd had a good test drive of it first.
My wife came back from Lidl last year with a long poled battery operated chainsaw for that exact purpose, I can’t remember the battery size but it does last a long time and recharges quickly. If you trim you hedge witha chainsaw to a height of 25mm, youll save an awful lot of future grief

I find that round up fertiliser really helps in these situationsIf you trim you hedge witha chainsaw to a height of 25mm, youll save an awful lot of future grief
I believe so, the 5Ah charges in about 45-50 minutes. As above I struggle without a break anyway but if you really wanted to run back to back all day I’d go for 3 batteries to be safe and give a little time for cooling to prolong life.If at the start of work there are 2 fully charged batteries. That would depend on the size of your hedge Peter. Small hedge and a quick trim I would say yes, a hedge 2-300 mtrs long forget it unless you have a wheelbarrow full of batteries.
