i just keep a spider where my spare wheel is ive used it more for other peoples car than my own

if i remove my wheel when on the road tighten up and when im back home use unnip each nut in turn and use the touque wrench to tighten up again

As said above don’t get any sort of impact gun for wheel nuts.

Few years ago I had all sorts of issues when the numpties broke the locking wheel nut key

Honest guv, we didn’t use the bolt gun at all, really, honest mate!

They sorted it out and paid for it but I lost two days!

Get one of these if you don’t have one already to break the tension

I've been considering getting one of these for when the time comes to switch over to my spare set of alloys with winter tyres fitted. It has to be easier/faster than wielding the bent wire 'wrench' which comes in the tool kit......

I'm pretty sure this has to be a 'fake' Makita at the price, but does anyone in The Collective have any experience of them, and do we reckon it'd be up to removing and re-tightening the wheel bolts to 120nm?

As already said, breaker bar to undo then cordless drill/driver for nuts on/off and torque wrench to tighten.

Just like the tyre fitters do.

@8ob I used to have one of those electric jack's, it was OK and would lift the E39, but I flogged it when I bought my Costco Ali jack.

I'm now watching this (I know, I know... ) but might hunt for one with only the one battery. I can't see any circumstances where a job would need two, but for all the extra..... I suppose these things are all much of a muchness - why do they rate them at (say) 18V then supply batteries rated at 36V?

I bought a milwaukee mid torque last year, must admit its probably the best monies I have spent on tools in years, wouldnt be with out it now, at the time I thought too expensive ,wont use it enough...how wrong could I be!

Just pulled the trigger on this - there was a certain inevitability about all this, I suppose.
Using the eBay 10% discount voucher I got it for £68.31 - wrench, 2 x batteries, charger, case & sockets - not a bad deal I reckon. And I'll definitely find other uses for it, over and above swapping to/from my Winter alloys.

Sounds good, if it works on your wheels nuts you certainly wont regret it, its a back saver for sure, milwaukee was spendy, but I now wish I had bought one ten years ago, irrespective of make they are soo usefull, my next buy will be the smaller version to use on lighter/smaller bolts etc.
Anyways let us know how you get on with it,do a review maybes. cheers

The parkside one from Aldi only managed 3 of my 5 wheel nuts today. Not sure if they were 400lbs tight but did have to stand on the bar when undoing them by hand. Im sure it will come in useful for generic bolts.

^ Steel wheels ? I am often amazed at how little 90-110Nm on alloys is, with even a moderate size torque wrench.

I am considering a battery Lidl one but not convinced I'd use it that often. Quite like the idea of the 90degree units I see the Binky mob using.
Batteries are Bosch or Parkside though.
