On another note I also use carbon steel blades nice and cheap and work well get them on eBay I usually use 14 tpi
i have been away and had no internet for the last week
I have a similar Rexon nearly 15 years old , but mine is a two speed jobby , done by putting belt on a different lower pulley that is at the bottom of the machine. it's goo fairly heavy built but I've noticed over time the throat has closed up by about 6 mm and the blade does not run central to the cutting slot as a result .
Managed to jack it apart again with a bottle jack once I'd removed the table & guides . This time I've marked the blade tensioning knob abd always backit off thre full turns when I've finished cutting so there is no tension in the blade .
" justbandsawblades " is where I've purchased a dozen or more different band blades from over the last four or five years. They used Starret blade for all of mine
I got two bespoke bi metallic 1/2" x 12( ?) TPI blades for £ 38 IIRC made for the Rexon about two years ago .
Check carefully that they have the synchronization right , both of the first pair of blades I ordered had been cut & fused so that two left teeth were in serial sequence, resulting in a hell of a bang about two seconds into cutting some 3x 3 square aluminium bar . I checked why it was catching and found one of the left teeth at the joint had almost ripped out . They were very good, asked me for the pair back & replaced them by return of post and gave me a refund of the postage. They were new blades too for they didn't have my UV identifier marks on them .
I've tried other places to get wood blades done , most were so bad you could ride bare assed to London on them.
If your band saw has a driving band on the drive wheels I offer that you look up Rexon spares and get a new set in . Put them away in a heat sealed vac packed bag with a label inside the bag showing which machine they are for .. For they don't always have the driving bands in stock and as I found out, it's sods law that it goes the day after they have sold the last ones and are waiting a month or more for new driving bands to come in from China.
I've used a full set of bands twice in the last 14 years years & now have the spare protected from oxygen vac packed set stored in one of my tool cabinets.
PS.
I notice the latest models have the floor cut out the base of the saw and the stand so the saw is sat above a drawer to enable quick emptying of cuttings that normally fill up the lower wheel cabin.
