Backing a vehicle

I have just washed the van, cleaned the crud and oil off the bottom of the gearbox best i can.

Took for a drive. Somewhat quieter, gear change much smoother. Still whining though about 50.

With usual seal puller?

Yeah just seal puller job.

From memory: Ford OE seals come a lip on them to seat them - and FEBI - Elring ones don't.

I do recall - having a hell of job to hit a FEBI one in

If I can i'll get ford to do it under warranty.

Then double check their work!

I suspect i'll be rebuilding the gearbox before my ownership is up.

If it's anything like the IB5 gearbox from the 2000-2008 fiestas then i've done one of those on axle stands by myself in one night after work.

As i struggled to find info about the oil required on the internet I've done a little video which may help someone else in the future.

If the buggers won't fix it, throw some Moly-lube in the box if it's a manual.

Gearbox is pretty much fubar in the van, due to issues with my mrs car last month i didn't take the van in to its appointment with ford as that would leave us with no transport at all.

Just spoke to Ford today and been told it will be a month and £156/hour to investigate the issue.

I said surely this is under warranty due to the fact you didn't fit a new oil seal when you done the driveshaft? Was told a full investigation is required first.

I love my Ford Ranger - I HATE all Ford dealers I have dealt with so far.

I always have to kick up a fuss to get things done properly/get them to accept their responsibility.

In one way I am glad my truck is out of warranty now, no need to visit or deal with Ford dealerships anymore.

I believe it's known as the ZAC gearbox.

well the saga continues about three weeks ago. I took my van in to Ford to get a quote on a new gearbox. They agreed needs a gearbox however two days after I took it in they told me that FORD no longer makes the 5 speed gearbox.

Therefore, they were going to speak to a few of their suppliers to see if they could get a rebuilt box.

So a week later ford parts plus had come back to them tell them they did have a gearbox however the price was £1700 fitted with a discount applied due to the problem being reported in warranty time that was the best they could do.

A few quotes from elsewhere and refurb box is about £1299 fitted.

So I thought about it for a week, two weeks ago I tried to get hold of the woman at Ford to tell her I'll go ahead with it if they can chuck me in a service just to make Price a bit more bearable.
Left a few messages she never got back to me, tried again last week and she came back and she said she'd have to speak to her boss.

She's just rang me back, Ford parts plus have sold that gearbox and there's nothing they can do to help me they can give me a number of a company that rebuild gearboxes.

Your error was not leaving it blocking their workshop and demanding a loaner while they fixed it under warranty as soon as the fault was noticed!

I would have thought as the fault was reported when the item under warranty it should be covered as long as its not a long time 6 months year etc

Keep fighting Ford is my advice.

Eventually, they cave in and do the correct thing.

That being said how much do your value your time?

If it is about principle, you keep fighting them so that they do the correct thing.

I love my Ford Ranger but I don't ever want any dealings with Ford ever again.
