That's the outlet, the pipe is wedged in so the liquid coming out didn't soak the ground I was trying to dig out.
My plan is to put a 1 tonne bag into the hole with a cutout for the pipe and backfill it, maybe cut the pipe shorter too. The outlet of the pipe is above ground level and the end by the wall is on a rock that would need the wall knocking down and rebuilding to remove
My question is: What to backfill it with? I've plenty of 20mm crushed rock I could use, but research suggests I should use 40mm. 20mm also has the advantage of being easier to dig out later if need be, it has to be done by hand, there's too much gardening around it to get a machine in. I've also a load of 20mm and down quarrymix going spare.
