Auto Darkening Module

I recently bought a Draper Storm Force welding helmet, with an auto darkening filter, fixed at number 11 shade.

I felt this was a bit too dark for flux cored welding, so I got an aftermarket replacement module, from eBay. It's a dial-a-shade type. The problem is that it's not as dark as the fixed shade, even when cranked up to number 13.

Any ideas?
