I have a fear anything cheap on ebay etc from an unknown maker isn't something I want to trust my eyesight to. Decent brand names only in the hope they have a decent design, specification and quality control to ensure that spec is complied with.

I'll save money somewhere else where I can either grow, or buy, a new one.

if youve used the lens already and arent blind then you should be fine

Several days later and still no sign of arc eye. Should I ask for a refund, as I'm so disappointed in not getting my first ever case of arc eye?

Just weld without using the helmet. You would then have something to compare your current state to and be better informed as to whether or not to ask for a refund.

Keep one eye closed the whole time of course, as a control sample.

im with other folks. i stay away from ultra cheap lenses. they may not comply with all proper safety rating. when a can of beer cost more than a lens , how good could the lens really be
