I cant remember where it gets is oil feed for the head but also is the sump damaged ie have you pushed it up by putting a jack under the sump whilst doing the belts it may have been damaged before, and this has finally closed up the clearance, this can effectively reduce the clearance from the sump bottom to the oil pick up pipe a little like turning a tap off and restricts oil flow to the pump at high engine speeds because the faster the engine goes the more it loses oil through the bearings etc, it is a growing problem on cars now the transit / jag mondeo engine suffers from it, if its tin sump has been pushed up. Also some engines suffer from the gauze blocking with debris also.
they are usually fine at low speed but gradually loose oil pressure as they are rev'ed
No problem with the sump..
I know what you mean ,
I've built pinto engines with shortened sumps and Made the pick up shorter..
I did raise the car 6" , to make it less of a back breaker to work on it,
but raised it on a big crossmember .
Thanx for your advice.
