take a look at model engineering form, there loads of clock maker /repairers on there....
I've got a number of old clocks going, first thing I've done is remove the movement and give it a petrol bath, get some proper clock oil to lube the various pivots afterwards. there must be some info on 'tinternet or youtube to assist ?
the movements are basically a simplish gearbox with an escapement to restrict the run down.
I found fiddling with clocks quite fun, watches on the other hand, nah..way too tiny

I used to repair the clocks for a mate that had a house clearing business, he asked me “do you think you could make them go” I replied “I’ll have a go” I bought a book about clock repairs & got most of them going. Haven’t done one for a long time, but if you are a bit handy & read how to set the chime up, you stand a good chance as long as nothing is broken, most just needed a clean.

sounds like it needs a clean it worked briefly when i removed the pendolum and laid it down,
The Reader's Digest Repair Manual, a sort of Haynes Manual for the home, has a section on clock restoring. It basically says as much as @Porkypine has. Dip the movement in petroleum spirit for a few hours, allow to dry, and brush off any residues, then use a good quality watch oil on each of the bearing spindles.
I'd say you've got a very good chance, it obviously 'wants to go '

a little bit of metal has broken off the top part of the pendolum connecting bar since I have had a fiddle! so I need to make something for that. So petrol bath first then a blow out then lube. What is watch gear lube actually? It sounds like it will sound nice every quater hour and hour

like clipper oil
It's that kind of oil but way further in that direction - clipper oil wouldn't do the job. Still too viscous and mystery additives.
It's basically one of the more refined types of oil, and of low viscosity; certainly less viscous than motor oil, for example. When watch/clock oil evaporates, as it slowly will over time, it doesn't leave behind any tarry residues. Some info about clock oil here. There are watch oils available, that have lower viscosity than clock oil.
The other important things to note are to only use the bottle of oil specifically for delicate mechanisms like clocks, not shake the bottle, and to keep the bottle upright at all times, so any sediment stays at the bottom. Apply with a fine tipped something, like a fine watchmaker's screwdriver.

Ideally it wants dismantling and everything cleaning. You may find that the pivots are worn in the plates...they can be re-bushed.
I have a slate mantle clock, belonged to my Dad's parents, the bloody thing weighs a ton but I can't be rid of it.
