The return spring on my Bahco side cutters broke and the warranty claim was a bit disappointing. Bahco said that their lifetime warranty is for the expected lifetime of the tool which they say is five years. As my cutters were 4year and 10 months, which is almost five years they initially didn't want to honour the warranty, though after a second request they agreed. Still a bit disappointing that they would quibble like that.
What are your experiences and any brands still offering decent warranties? I think Bahco are part of the same group that does Snap on, so will the Snap on warranty be equally bad?
My local Teng dealer used to accept almost anything back so long as it didn't have blatant signs of mis use, but that was a very long time ago. My friend was a Halfords manager and told me they were instructed to accept all but the most blatant warranty claims, but again that was 7 years ago and things may have changed as competition has increased and profit margins are down for these companies.
