I'm not following what you mean, unless you mean that UV radiation behind the glasses may scatter back into your eyes?

Plain old glass blocks a significant quantity of UV radiation from passing through, as does polycarbonate and various other clear materials.

They do not provide total "protection" and you can obviously still suffer harm, but if I was going to accidentally look at a huge source of UV radiation I'd rather be wearing plain eye glasses than nothing.

It's also why spherical glass ornaments shouldn't be put on window sills.

When I asked chat gpt it basically said most modern plastic lense materials absorb UV to some degree.....but the wavelengths absorbed varied by material....probably why additional coating are applied maybe to catch specific wavelengths.

I came home from work one sunny day to find that a curved makeup mirror had charred a long black line on a nearby folded newspaper.
We were lucky, could have come back to find the house burned down....

Same happened in our campervan. Luckily just left a scar on the woodwork which has faded over time.
