Sorry, been mithered this morning took dogs out and my old one collapsed after running, gone, out of it,eyes staring so there I am putting him in the recovery position giving him chest compressions etc and crying like a girl he gets up gives me a lick and runs off.
I then had to run round returning a 7.25 twin paddle clutch i had borrowed, also had to have my daily bollockin from the missus coz I was 4mins late coz I had gone in her car.
yes air box is standard spoken, to nephew 5mins ago he went out last night after I followed him home about 23.30 to put bike away and it wouldnt start off the button !! paddled/walked it and it ran.

Just spoken with him, he's been out and it tried it would not start, with no choke, but did 'try', but then started off the button with choke so mixture cannot be far out I reckon.

with starting his he trying to rev it when starting some won't start like that
might be better to put choke on full then try to start it without touching the throttle
you can only try it

Cheers Guys Yes he is fine at the moment whining at me, for his tea.
he was a little quite today but I gave him half a small asprin.
But he is 91/2 so in human years he is 63 and full of fun I wish I was so energetic
Funny thing was I only said thismorning that he is so full of life, he woke up goes over hits his sister with his nose and wakes her so they can have a wrestle. gets toys so they can have a pull against each other.etc

this morning he went out tried it with choke and throttle and it tried but no real action so ^^^^^ no throttle and choke and away it went
rode it up to work with no real issues ( cut out once I believe at the lights ) but did restart.
so is usable
now back to the compression issue,I was thinking this morning , IF it has been run so weak before this ie after it was rebuilt for the crank and mains has the piston had semi seize therefore effecting the ring and barrel and giving me the lowish reading, now after getting the jetting somewhere near, and it has run for longer, has it freed off the ring and cleaned the scuff and now we are getting a better comp??
I have rung him just to tell him to get it warm tonight and do another comp check.

When my Cagiva was running with low compression it also used to stall for no reason at lights/junctions etc. Will be interesting to see how the compression reads when warm.

tell him to do comp test hot then do it again
but this time put some oil into the piston turn it over a few times plug out then comp test it again noting the differance
could also try putting a bit of two stroke in the petrol as well say 50to1 just to try it worst it will do is foul a plug so tell him to keep a spare plug and spanner in his pocket

Cheers guys, yes have told him to do a wet test after initial one
Funny this just remembered have had two cars lately that would not start VERY low compression's put oil down bores and both fired like new and subsequently started after but both had been left for a period after running with VERY little oil This maybe the outcome of low lube in petrol now no lead etc to give LASTING upper cyl lube etc

no lead low sulpher cars now don't seem to last last decent cars seem to be 80s
what you need is some 5 star fully leaded and duckhams 20/50

Another update, bike still running ok tonight ( and dog) ----gonna do comp test tomorrow night---- on the bike.

great photos, is he the one who collapsed then Norm? maybe get him checked over, get him an MOT at the vets or something like that.

Yep the other two reds, are his younger brother and sister, lost brother to cancer,
he was diagnosed with heart problem when younger, we both were prescribed the same heart tablets at one point!! and we both sacked them at the same time but he has run and run for most his life,and we used to go Jorring every day but he has been overfed by the missus I think, she keeps saying he is hungry YES but so I am I, thats why I'm fat!! coz I can get it when I want( so can he, when he puts on his pleeeeaase face for treats) both of us are not good for it. Coz both of us think we are younger than we are and he is older than me.

your not going off post this is a discussion about bikes and dogs which im sure is at most peoples hearts.
yes me and the wife cried like babies when we had to have our cocker spaniel put down he was nearly 14 when his back end went,
he had spine problems for a few years but we and the vet kept him going for two years he was happy for that extra time
here is a picture of Frazier in better days so if i am of post i hope people will understand

this was bruce the one the cancer got, you can see his stump where his leg used to be, removing it gave him 18mths of wonderfull life before it got to his lungs,
he is telling betty she was in his seat !!
