I submitted an application for an apprenticeship in fabrication and welding today. It feels a little strange, in that I'm out of my 20's and despite all of the Governments efforts, I can't help shake the feeling that apprenticeships are something for those younger than myself. However, I'm really looking forward to it and hopeful I'll at least get an interview and be considered.
My level 2 course finishes around the time the apprenticeship is due to start so that could prove useful, better than having skills go rusty for 6 months, etc. No idea what I'll do afterwards, never would have thought of doing this a year ago, so I'll just enjoy the process and give it my best.
