@grim_d you are looking at it wrong. They have a target market and they know what they will pay. Just because you won't pay those prices doesn't make Apple a thief.
Take my industry, you can go online and get a new boiler from Boxt or Glow Green or one of a dozen companies for £1600 supply and fitted. I charge at least £2000.
You could argue im ripping people off but im not, im offering a premium service to people who value quality over cost. If your only factor is cheapest price you are not my customer I'm afraid
I'm not looking at it wrong, you are interpreting me wrong, i am not calling or implying that apple are being thiefs, but they are certainly taking advantage of some.
People have literally sold their internal organs to buy apple products...
You're not ripping people off or taking advantage of them by offering and delivering a premium service.
If you come and put my boiler in and all the pipes are nice and straight, all the pipe clips aligned, solder nice and neat etc etc I would consider that a premium service, does the exact same things as a messy but functional installation but the extra comes from over and above the minimum expectations.
If you were to make people think you were offering a premium product or service when you were not then you would be ripping people off, perceived premium is a thing and is what so many companies do now. Premium and high quality are not the same thing.
Should one be expected that pay above the odds for premium products made with premium materials? Of course, you are also paying for the status if that's what's important to you but at some point the line is blurred between premium and obscene.
