hmmm, it had never been near oil and was soaked in acetone overnight, can't guarantee it was not contaminated but as clean as I could get.Could the mating surfaces have been 'deeply' contaminated, esp if as you say it was an alloy [aluminium]?![]()
if its made of ally use technoweld with a blowtorch
I wouldn't use JB weld in your application, but I have used it to make the inlet ports on a cylinder head smaller

There are sections for TIG welding of aluminium and there are sections for projects made out of aluminium, perhaps if you provide more information it would help decide what goes where.Does aluminium fabrication comes under welding?
