You'd only need a non return when your helium bottle pressure gets lower than your argon. Can't get a mix at my supplier, have got a y piece ready to go would I need a non return
It's a tonne hotterHow much better is it than Argon? Argon is, at least, recyclable!
I can't help.... but I'm admiring that lovely-looking weld!Hate the thoughts of having a bottle hanging around doing nothing but every now and then I think about getting a bottle for the odd jobs I get View attachment 318776View attachment 318777 got away with it here but there's been a few I've not been happy with, anyone tried it
So how much dearer is argon helium mix than same size pure argon? Does the improved weld mean you use less? Or the same flow rate?Argon/helium mixes will give you far better results than pure argon when either TIG or MIG welding ally, better fusion, penetration, cosmetics, faster travel speeds, copes with oxide better and reduces/eliminates porosity.
I'm pretty sure balloon gas is only about 80% helium - the rest is a mixture of CO2 & oxygen. There is a balloon Gas guy on my estate who also happens to be a BOC dealer ,will ask him about the purity issue
I'll post a photo of the other part that 220 amps just wasn't enoughI can't help.... but I'm admiring that lovely-looking weld!
Good point I'll make sure and ask the purity of the helium,The problem with helium for welding is it has to be super high purity. People try to use balloon gas and all sorts of lower purity options.
