I've given up with that for now, the neck was made of an OA welding tip which I threaded and screwed into the head, but I stripped the thread so I'm leaving it for a while. .I'm not really sure why it went wrong; every few passes the tool would align with the top of the thread rather than the root and would You should only have to do this on threads with an odd TPI, these are both 24 TPI so it shouldn't matter, yet it did.
I have never been any good at it really. I can turn basic stuff down to size to within about an inch tolerance
