Pay rise for me..Lol.
Maybe then.
That's insulting
Cost me a couple of grand to do ten days and I'd probably end up in contempt anyway

Me too...in my very early years i have had a bit of Governmental bed and breakfast so can never be asked for my servicesWifey had done it once (jury duty) - went on for weeks.
Sadly I have to report - my criminal record is not good enough for me to be called for "jury service".
Nothing in the last 30years - but some very serious things in my early years.
So I declare myself a "reformed character"....
Don't take the "p#ss here" - I think three decades without getting into any/serious trouble is a result!
I am quite proud of it - being a good boy...
Detail is here:
Exemptions from jury service
If you're over 18 years old, you can be called for jury service. Some people aren't eligible for jury service or can get excused because of their job. There's no automatic exemption from jury service due to your age. You can ask to be excluded when you're over 70.www.nidirect.gov.uk

As the summons isn’t signed for who’s to say you have received it?
That does kinda defeat the purpose of having '12 men, good and true' to make the decision. For some unfathomable reason, I was made foreman, The weird thing was (and it still bothers me tbh) the judge told me " I am instructing you to deliver a guilty verdict".
I didn't think that was how it worked but I went along with it anyway....
An exs daughter turned 18 and was called upon within weeks of her birthday
I went self employed at 19 and my "affair" was 6 years later, Iff i had been working for a company there is no doubt in my mind i would of been fired on the spotIs this the reason you went "self employed" @roofman? It was for me! Nobody would have given me a proper job all them years ago.

But maybe the guy had technically admitted guilt so the judge just wanted to make sure it wasn't overlooked.
Who knows, it's always struck me as a bit odd that the guilt or innocence is decided by the majority opinion of 12 of the great unwashed.
Up here we have Sheriff's courts. The stetsons and six guns make the court look much more exciting than the horse hair wig and gown look down south.
I've been called twice to be on the panel but wasn't selected either time. Which suited me.
Well that is also a criminal offence. They asked me if I had a police record.........I said yes, Walking on the moon
I been dealing with a "power of attorney" thing and "house conveyancing" issue in Scotland.
Scottish legal system is different than the UK - but in some respects I have found it clearer/fairer and easier to access (from what I have been dealing with up to this point!)
