I agree, hang on to it, you wont loose money....they appreciate.
That's right, I paid about £1100 for mine in the 80's and last time I had it serviced I asked for an insurance valuation - £4500!!

Or, you could get hit by a bus next week.
If you're thinking of keeping it as an heirloom/inheritance then fine, or if you'd like to have it in reserve - but otherwise it's just dead money...
The second had sale price with no box and papers also no recent service will be down a fair bit, if selling to a dealer, who will have to get it serviced and cleaned, then offer a short warrenty.
It HAS appreciated but only to the tune of about £425 or £12-odd a year (in 1985 money). Seems like a lot more but £1100 in 1985 is £3250 now.
This is true but the reality is if you had kept the £1100 from 1985 in the drawer at home it would still be £1100.
If you kept £1100 from 1985 it wouldn't even be legal tender![]()
Yeah I know it was tongue in cheek. Not really relevant since we were discussing the appreciation in value of an item not depreciation of any currency. I was just pointing out that the apparent large jump in value of the watch wasn't so large when you consider inflation and what you could buy with the money now.
Actually with the weaker pound due to briexit etc, the used value of things like Rolexs should increase, as the local cost of a new one has gone up by roughtly 20%. Therefore used demand will rise, therefore used prices should follow.
Phone/email them, ask to check if you've won anything.
This usually means they pull them out to look, and then they're nearer the top of the stack to get picked for winning next month![]()
I have absolute irrefutable proof of the highest order.
The wife has about £50 in bonds, and the two times she's won (a tenner or something each time) it's been immediately following a checkup call![]()
