A bit further forward on the plastic reaction but still none the wiser.
Decided to try soda to remove the paint.
I had some soda (used as cow's lick?) so probably not the right thing but worth a try.
I couldn't be bothered to clean out the pressure pot so just used my spot blaster.
It was slow, took a lot of soda but did do the job.
Looking at it the "match" wasn't bad but this did show that I was wrong and the mirrors weren't painted.
The base and clear had however stuck very well.
All in all a good outcome as the soda didn't seem to harm the plastic and useful tool to have.
The other half of the mirror didn't react so I left it in paint (as much to see how if lasts or if it eventually throws the paint)
So, I'm wondering if the lack of plastic primer caused the issue?
The door handles were also raw plastic (as is the front half of the mirror) and I just plastic primed them and they turned out fine.
I gave the soda blasted bits a good wash and clean and my intention is -
Plastic cleaning wipe - (smells like white spirit and not very volatile)
Plastic primer
2K primer (epoxy or acrylic)
Base and clear
I'll see how it goes
