My first wife was a radiographer, in the days of X-ray film, and there was a silver recovery unit, These days its all digital,
Funnily enough, there are a few die-hards who insist on wet film rather than digital... such as the Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight. The Lanc, Spits, Hurris etc. fall within the remit of the RAF's regional NDT team who, for the operational aircraft, have switched to digital rads. This means that there's nothing in the budget for film and chemicals or having the film processors serviced (and it'll only be a matter of time before they all get scrapped).
BBMF rings up and demands a weekend's worth of films on the Lanc, the RAF guys scratch their heads and start looking in dark cupboards for stock...

Or so I was told by the half-brother of the cousin of a bloke in the pub
