I used to get given bags of silver when they removed the silver reclamation thing from the developing machine
they had in the local hospital. Silver used to fall out of the unit.
I have a little sweetie bag full of it somewhere. It doesn't look like silver, it's a black clumpy dust, but when heated it melts and is silver.

They absolutely are when done in bulk. Lots of ring blanks fitted on a tree encased in plaster of Paris and silica flour
