Only know tanaka from the cheap top handles and what then looked like echo clones
I wasn't going to get into brands @mtt.tr because it just derails into a preference fest, just saying the leccy saws have come a long way and you don't have to do battle with stale fuel in saws that are not used very much. Petrol is still a no brainer for commercial use.

I see demos of these new battery cordless chainsaws and the operator just sticks on a pair of safety glasses and thats it as far as PPE goes.
Whenver i see petrol chainsaws being used, the ussr (most of the time) is wearing full helmet with faceshield, gloves, boots, trousers etc.
Are petrol chainsaws more dangerous than their lithium fuelled brethren ?
No expert just an old bloke who likes and uses chainsaws. I have various makes and don't care whose it is as long as it goes and cuts. I wouldn't use a top handle for general work and I wouldn't cut off a ladder. I have PPE and maintain and repair my saws and would say a good back handle saw would do the job better than a small top handle, get a 12" bar if you want a short one and stick it on something like an Echo CS362 and you'll not go far wrong.
how deep did you go into the strip down of the saw?
is the main case intact crank and bearings ok?
you could try throwing a cheap barrel and piston at it and see what happens

Barrel and piston does look cheap enough thou.
Gotta get one soon - before they ban you from buying chainsaws!
