My son is struggling to get some wings prepped. He used filler that left sanding blemishes and then stopper (with hardner) to remove blemishes without taking all the filler back off.

It keeps cracking while prepping let alone when he gets paint on.

Temperature and humidity don't help this time of the year unless he has a nice dry heated work space, not sure if it would cause filler to craze but it can not help.

Hes already DAed it off and said he hates stopper.....we have only ever used stopper without hardner and its never worked right.

Yeah its not the worlds worst but i keep saying wait but other situations mean it needs the car on the road ASAP.

ADHD does not help either. My assault means i cant spend time prepping as i cant see properly yet.

what filler are you using ? should be able to get a nice finish without the need for stopper as long as its not cheap rubbish

Cheap is relative...the first one he offered took overnight to be workable so i paid extra.
What do you reccomend.

Don't see why he's getting sanding blemishes is he using correct sandpaper grades, top stop is a good fine filler and will give good results

In my garage/workshop with a 2.5kw running. Also has a 6 foot double radiator running in garage when its heating the house.
So not really damp.

Sounds to me like the fillers haven't gone off. I would think about removing what is there and starting again with a quality filler, such as suggested above. If you want a stopper, which can be useful then go for U-Pol Diamond Glaze. It will go off in 10 mins ready for final flatting. Work through the abrasive grades starting with 120/180 for the filler and then 240 through to 400. Then after stopper application, reflat to 400, prime it with a couple of coats and flat to 500 for solid colours, 800 for metallics before final finishing.

all i can think is not mixed well enough , give it a good mix up and clean the spreader card before applying it , you can warm it with a heat gun once applied

He does not nirmally have problems but i spent a lot on consumables after the bumper crazed....and its just got colder.
