Another towing question, limits for pre 1997 licenses

The only figure that's recommended is the nose weight - nowhere else does it say that other figures are recommendations only.
It's a moot point for me anyway, my biggest trailer now is 1300kg...
The law says its a recommendation.

The law say the maximum the combination in whatever form that is, should be no more than the max gtw, and that is legal as long as the gvw is no more than stated.
The proviso is there in black and white, imo
for instance my sedan atkinson was plated for 24 ton gtw the max recommendation was 32ton but the 24 was its plated taxation class, all I had to do was fit 6 more bolts in the fifth wheel mounting the holes where already there ! and applied for it to be 32ton, it was ridiculous that it had to be made weaker to down plated in the first place but that was the law. considering on private land it could easily pull 32ton .
