still to clean and paint the chasssis rails. Spent ages scraping and wirebrushing, want to blast the remaing crap off with a pressure wash. Then paint with an anti rust primer/ gloss coat.Angle grinder with wire cups are quite scary!

I,m not sugestin you didn't read the post yer understand, BUT....
All things being equal as they say, If i get a chance this week that's what I'll be doin. I might even take a pic or three to show u....
I might even get the cleaning/sanding, anti-rust primer, couple of coats of gloss in the right order! Laters, Dusty

I had a Capri that'd ice up on the inside too.
Something to do with the fresh air that was the bulkhead & A-pillars....
if it can get out the botom then why worry about the top 
At last an up date!
With my real work taking up most of my time lately and the rotten weather things have been slow to happen but, I got some thing done today and have a pic to prove it
Primer on the chassis rails, says on tin grey, but it's very light grey!
3rd coat still to go yet, then I will splosh on a couple of coats of black gloss.
should get this part done by the weekend, so looking forward to getting some welding done next week.

Spotted the diff protection - looks like some off-roading planned?
Well just a little...
Once i've got the floor done then there's a bit of body armour to go on...
F/R diff's, steering/damper/track rod guards and a huge fuel tank guard with removable tow hitch. Modified HD rear bumper, front winch bumper etc.
Then new springs / tyres ..... the list goes on......

I weighed my Disco before and after modifying it,
2.2 tonnes now 2.7tonnes,
same amount of gear.

Oh yes, that,s next a new set of springs/gas shocks/polybushes. to pick it up again.
Progress hung up over crimble/new year but now,....
have had made some stepped repair sections and trimed the floor to suit, shorten two cross menber straps and a bit of welding later..... Floor is in ! Hurrah, er alright not fully welded in place yet AND no photo's but some progress at last.

Hmmmm - well guess what I've just discovered below the alpine light
......prodded out a gap about the size of a penny. You'd have thought LR of all folk would have made something a bit more durable
Nice having some aluminium bodywork though - at least that takes some pain away
update
at last a few pic's to show you lot.......
The cross members that support the tie down rings were nearly 20mm too wide so had to be modifed, a quick bash of a bar in the middle and the length was corrected. the side panels were quite rotten so most of the lip needed to fit the floor to had gone, so, I had a local fabricator make some stepped repair sections. The correct panels are still listed by most suppiers But you try ordering them!, not available.....Grrrrr! unless you can find NOS panels, some where. (list price around 35+vat etc or more! )
BTW I have 2 spare set's if any one wants em, £40 a pair + post/packing.
The repair sections are slightly longer than the lenght of the floor and have plenty of width to allow trimming to fit. round the whel tubs etc.
The step gives an easy to seal single piece join each side.
Once welded in both sides the floor panel was punched for spots all round and welded in.
Still to finnish, but getting there, enjoy the pic's...
