The problem with a rotating disc cutter is what happens the instant you cut over the centre of rotation. Bit like the tip of a chainsaw; physics demands that whatever pressure was previously resisting the "wheel" from pushing into you or pulling away from you is now forcing the disk into the cut. That means the wheel digs in, bites and the power from the motor instantly throws the blade in whichever direction it happens to be pointed. Not only that, it will always be in the exact opposite direction in which you had been braced against the former push or pull.
With a chainsaw you rely on the brake bar to kill power to the blade, with an angle grinder you're relying on luck. I once got a T shirt caught in a wire wheel. It instantly ripped it apart, wound around my hand tightly, ending up in my stomach clamping my hand against the switch. If that had been a chainsaw blade I would have been eviscerated.
As it happens, I was able to kick the plug out of the socket. Lesson learned though.
