American Chopper senior v junor

I don't want to hear a hard time, I know some of their technical work is crap, and the professionalism leaves a lot to be desired......but I enjoy watching the evolution of it all... so does anyone have series 3 complete by any chance, already got 1&2......(waits for bombardment.....)

I grew tired of that program a long time back, i love bikes but watching that pair squabbling endlessly made me tired. If the british tv stations were clever they should have made a similar program with a true craftsman like dave degens of dresda autos building triton cafe racers, choppers are old hat now.

Yeah but Tritons are old hat too... nothing wrong with a chop any more than any other elderly style of bike. The resemblance betwen a real chop and anything coming out of that program is purely coincidental

I record it, then fast forward through the waffle and waterjetting & CNCing etc etc, watch the metal shaping & paint bits - usually about 5 mins an episode!

Anyway. There's sites out there with the episodes watchable online, no idea if they're trustyworthy though.

Keep a beady eye out for a prog/s about some of the guys from Britchopper going to Bonneville in August. Among others a Weslake in custom frame, an Indian hardtail likewise. And possibly an interesting trike will be shown, not at the salt, but by a BC member.

It wasn't chops or custom bikes per se I was commenting on, although they don't actually appeal to me, it's the muppet show that is AHR or AC !! They are actually just bike and car themed soaps ! There was an American show on ages ago based in a Chopper shop run by an English bloke. They would have a member of the public in to build their dream bike in fixed time, if they succeeded they kept it, regardless of how much it cost, all parts supplied by the show. That wasn't bad.
I do like rat rods though !

I must confess I've had the urge to build one for a while now - before that show was on tv, honest!

Am I going crazy or did I see a thread on here the other day with pics of a bike someone had just finished? Damn nice it was too - wouldn't mind another look, but can't see it for the life of me now...?!?

I agree though - all the horseplay gets in the way of what could be a good programme - same with Boyd's lot and all those shows really.

I used to, till I realized what an A$$ Wipe Duane was, but not enough metalwork in it for me.....(I guess I must be a closet tin basher)

Doesn't have to be a triton. cafe racers , or bobbers even. I used to buy back street heros (not to look at boobs i swear) the workmanship of ordinary lads working in sheds building bikes was breathtaking, working with limited tools and getting great results.
I seen that shaved ape senior building an old school chopper and his work was rubbish.

That sounds like it was "Build or Bust" with Russell Mitchell from Exile Cycles.
I just had a nose round £47k's worth Exile cycles trike this afternoon....lots of brushed aluminium and quite small.
I think it was put together in this country by Battistinis, who i was told went bust last week.

I used to like parts of that show. I remember one bloke who wanted to make his own petrol tank but didn't have a clue about welding and kept electrocuting himself with the tig, it was priceless.

Ronan, have a watch of the salt flats prog, it'll be a BBC thing, some truly great stuff from British sheds, and the trike is incredible..

Agreed, I can't bear what they build, just like to see hammers brought to bear and all that. The rest of the drama nonsense... nah, life's too short!

I know in these day's all the agro is just for ratings....but is it, I get the feeling you have actually visited Boyd's place Steve, if Duane is such a nice guy why is he constantly ragging on the staff, some people deserved it imho , and I am glad that some of them were let go, if you have visited Boyd's otherwise you wouldn't comment on Duane's personality I take my hat off to you, it was something I always wanted to do from being a 14 teen year old teenager which was when I first came across Boyd's work in Custom Car magazine, I have always been a hotrodder at heart and have dabbled when I have been home on leave and had time. I thoroughly appreciate the work of craftsmen, used to love ally pally and seeing all hard work and sweat that had gone into those cars. I read that after Boyd's death and Jo taking over Duane asked for more money for doing what he does and she fired him, who knows.....more gossip.?
