Am I reading this wrong or is the miller suitcase welder 8rc actually putting out 500 amps ????

and running wire up to 2mm thick ??

the other bit that confuses me is down the bottom of the page.....Not recommended for use with AC power sources ????

has anyone on here any experience with these ?

i may be wrong but that is just a wire feed unit. It needs a dc constant voltage supply i.e. A welder, and the 500 amps is merely a reference that it will run continuously at 500 amps, will accept a max of 2mm wire and needs a 14 pin plug coming from the power source welder.

that's how i see it anyway, i may be wrong

ah, that miller is just a feed unit so you don't have to drag a massive 3 phase machine around the shop

...isn't that just the spec for the separate wirefeed unit - you would need a power source to go with it. If I am right, when they refer to the DC power source they mean a DC supply to the torch like a regular MIG machine is?
