The ECU's for both vehicles have been to various very expensive ECU repair places. One even got sent to a place in Bulgaria that specialises in bringing old vehicles back to life. Noone can do anything. Noone has software that can fully read the ECU's as Mercedes never made it open access and obviously Mercedes don't have it anymore as it is so old.

There are thousands of Sprinter ECUs about.

And the 905s ran Bosch EDC15/16 i think so that software's been well and truly covered by the aftermarket for 25+ years.

Neither vehicle would be sat essentially rotting away if it was that simple. The unimog has had several times it's value spent on it. Several owners have tried and it just ends up in auctions again and again.

The 2004 VWLT35 we have failed due to the ECU, we were told it was a paper weight but a place near Cannock fixed it for about £200 with a life time guarantee, if you would like the number let me know

A mate has a 2004 Sprinter (316??) that's been off the road for months now with a starting problem (as it wouldn't unless cranked for ages, then not at all... which you'd think "fuel" but they've tried allsorts).

I wouldn't mind the number to pass on - it might get his camper going!

Probably over budget but a VW T4 syncro 4wd van would be suitable for your needs.

I wouldn't mind the number to pass on - it might get his camper going!

I will look it up in a bit, I think they charged around £70 to test but £200 all in to fix

We swapped loads of parts on the VW LT35 before we realised it was the ECU so when my VW T4 had issues we had the ECU tested just to save a lot of messing about.
