Used to ride the bike (motor) to work through the snow, best was an A65, stick it in second or third and nice low CofG. 4" of snow was no problem just keep plodding on around the obstacles.
CG125 was next best, used to follow the ruts if not careful but if I ever got stuck it was easy to pick up and move on.

ACF50 has been applied to the XT in case we get a nice day or two.

When I was a young man I lived up by Sterling for a years and a chance was my only transport for years, I used to get that where water wouldn’t!
A ft deep Fresh snow on the road was no bother!

Heavy snow fall, major travel issues, A21 trunk road that we are on is blocked both ways. Poor travellers having issues:

First set pull in the farm yard, knock on the door and we end up feeding them supper and they are now in our snug by the log burner - no issues. They are probably going to have to stay over night.

Second set - barge straight into our yard, park their car and march out to the road passing our house without a word and certainly not asking if it's OK.

I've coned their car off, and firmly shut the gate and will await developements, but I think it's a blooming cheek !

FIL is an ex traffic police motorcycle man.

He commuted for years from their farm in rural suffolk on a C90.

One year after a particularly bad dump of snow he got to work to be told they weren’t allowed out on the work bikes due to weather conditions

Spent all day slipping about in a police car then rode the C90 home without incident apparently!

i went for my bike test . rode 15 miles on virtualy solid ice to get there and it was cancelled due to slush on the road where the testing took place so just rode back

Did that for my first car test. 25 years to ago this week funny enough. Old man’s series 2. Too snowy. Got sent home. Next date was January. After the 97 licence change

Not that I’m still bitter about it!!

Main issue I think is it snows in london very rarely...so some have zero experience of driving in snow. When you combine the lack of experience, RWD and the wrong tyres...and "the hill" ....yea the rest is quite predictable!

We all have to have that "oh sh it!" moment when you realise just how little grip there is in snow on "normal" tyres the first time out.

There's one corner on my way into work, downhill, adverse camber - on a snowy/icey day, all wheel tracks lead to the outside kerb, where there is a new line of clean, freshly exposed chips of concrete . . .

“I’m outside the gate to your communal parking area and I can’t get in to get my wife car”

To which I said “it’s NOT a communal parking area, its my private farm yard and I’m in bed”

Tell them thanks for their generous gift and the new owner is collecting it shortly. In the mean time, help yourself to the engine oil. That way they won't hang about when they collect it and it will seize up about a mile down the road.

Some ignorant pillock parked across my driveway last year meaning couldn't get in, a length of sling soon fixed the situation. I just won't put up with sh1t like this and the guy who used his tractor to remove a car from his drive, well it appears the general public are supportive of a bit of positive action against to$$ers, as demonstrated by the verdict.
