Hi all
I'm in the market for an AC TIG welder. My gole is to weld thin aluminum sheet about 1mm.
I'm living in Denmark. And finding a good mid-range machine here is really dificult.
So right now I'm looking at a profetional inverter machine.
One (Migatronic PI200) is £3300 with all the bells and wishels, AC frequenzy 25-150Hz.
The other (Migatronic Focus) is £2300 with a quite reduced set of adjustments. Most notably the AC frequency is fixed at 70Hz.
Both machenes are 5-200A
My dilemma is, How important is the abillity to adjust the frequency?
I know that a higher frequency gives you a norrow arc. And that some prefere this when welding thin butt joints. But is this adjustment worth the extra cash?
I know I get a lot of adjustments for the extra pricetag, but that is mostly slope-up and -down and a special tack function.
I'm not that keen on ebay, as I would like to go to a local dealer for service and spare parts.
Looking forward to heering your opinion
Regards Rasmus
