Does the tension on that bolt even "see" the crack?

With that much thread hanging out the end of the nut I’d wager that’s not an original fitment bolt.

Someone has put it in and wangered it down too far, for god only knows what reason.

I wouldn't touch that,

I'd keep an eye on it occasionally.

me neither even it it broke they and the other bolt come out they still need lots of bashing to seperate!

With that much thread hanging out the end of the nut I’d wager that’s not an original fitment bolt.

On a lot of alternators they make the bolt too long like that. So, on certain applications, you can use it as a binding post for an earth lead.

I wouldn't worry about the crack but the belt should ride about flush with the OD of the pulley so measure the width of the pulley vee there, 10mm is Z section, 13mm is A section, 16mm is B section.

so pretty disappointed. landrover alternator is cracked. its only about 2yrs old. engine has had little use.

so any ideas od a permant semi perment fix.? new body . resin

Shouldn't there also be a washer under the head of the adjusting bolt, not that It'll make much difference to the crack mind.
