After changing the cam belt and cam chain (had to drill off the cam adjustor) in the golf nothing i wont have a go at.
The insurance company called me today i've sent them the form that the neighbour and I signed. He is with the same insurance company don't know if this is a good or bad thing.
Just want her off the road now hence i'm getting stuck into fixing the alhambra also going to get cracking on the driveway so i can put both cars off the road without lugging my crappy ramps back and forth.

You took the easy route eh !! just break the new matrix and it will all go back exactly as it all came outsimples. Only took 4 hours.
!! then at least you can say 'well I fitted one'

Think its going to be difficult to get back in if i don't remove the ac pipes and the other two bolts holding the heater box to the bulk head. We will see.You took the easy route eh !! just break the new matrix and it will all go back exactly as it all came out

Got it up to temp seems fine, got the dash back in just need to put the steering wheel, a pillar trim and wiper mechanism back. PITA.
And the hissing noise was not the matrix leaking, it was the switch for heater/recirculation. That also does not work, i joined the pipes and the flap opened so the switch mush be knackered.
Hopefully the heating system will not take too long to dry out. Coolant is no longer dripping from the AC drain

Afaik, some are 'stretch' (?) bolts and should be replaced - a 'use once' part.

Got everything back together but i did drop a plastic nut from the cabin filter housing down into the blower 
. Hopefully it will not foobar the motor and i will have to take the dash out again.
Think its going to take weeks to dry everything out still have a constant mist on the windows we will see.

Can you stick a dehumidifier in there?

I've had some dehumidifier bags in there for years that shows you how long its been leaking. It will dry out just may take some time.

Aye, but I meant a BIG one which sucks the moisture out of the world.
No chance in that it will cost money. The car is worth about 50p.

Spoke with the insurance company and they confirmed my neighbour has accepted responsibility. They said they can send an accessor to my house we agree on a price to fix the damage and they pay me or the accessor will go to the garage they will pay the garage not sure whats the best option.
the golf looks tidy enough, worth getting the garage to sort it, I'd say get the assessor to the garage option. if it was an old bucket, I say go for the cash and sort the tail light yourself, but that looks worth getting it done right.
