I have a Lidl version bought about 5 years ago and only used occasionally. I used it the day before yesterday and the battery is still good and it's accurate enough for me. I have an old dial calliper in the shed and it is a very good quality instrument.

Same here - I’ve got a Lidl version which works just fine, very repeatable and never had any bother with. Battery seems to last ok for my occasional use, when checked against a mic they stand up pretty well.

I had a m&w digital set that only lasted a few years before packing up, but to be honest I think they were generic ones that were rebranded (as seems the way with most new m&w stuff sadly)

I have an Aldi one that the digital display packed up on. For the things I do it does the job of measuring on the increments across the slide. I'd like a new one but thats another round tuit.

well Aldi were great on the phone they are going to refund me, I could have had a replacement set but I declined!

Ive got a couple pairs of aldi digital calipers and a couple pairs of old school vernier calipers. I think that the digital calipers have been used a handful of times if that. I think if you're trying to measure to 0.01mm then you should be looking at a micrometer. I do like the digital vernier that I use for demonstrating wire drawing (at the museum I volunteer at) as they display to 0.1mm, which is as accurate as I'd want to use one too.

I'm gonna be the oddball here, and speak up for the Workzone calipers.

Im not machining bits for the space shuttle so being able to tell if ive got a piston that takes a 1.5mm ring orone than takes a 1.75 one is about as much as I need on the precision front , the rest is marking out and cutting stuff where they are used like a carpenters marking guage.

They get chucked on the bench stood on in the drive etc and still work fine, well worth £5~£10

I had an Aldi one it was absolute rubbish, it wasn't even straight. It wouldn't hold it size batteries only lasted a short time, my friend had the same experience. I stripped it and used the main body as a chipping hammer. Lidls are better. But not by much two defunct oneas

The readout window got fainter and fainter until they dissap-eared altogether even with good quality batteries.

Another vote for the Lidl ones, mine doesn't eat batteries and it's good enough for what I need to measure or make on my mini lathe etc.

funny I just ordered another set of lidl ones from a seller on ebay new and unused!

I use the aldi ones every so often and I check them against shims we use for shaft alignments and get repeatable results and close enough for what I need to know, I used them last week to measure blade thickness on a fan and the results were just what I needed.
