Alcohol Free?

I have tried the lot - alcohol free larger beer - wine and even bought the vilest bottle of no alcohol gin once.

Guiness Zero - is the only palatable one out of the lot....

I am drinking too much of late - I have taken to not drinking anything for two or three days in row most weeks - been doing this for a few months now - weight has dropped a bit.

I have not had an alcoholic drink since 1984. However all this alcohol free beer and wine etc, seems to me rather like vegetarian "sausages", and stuff shaped like bits of chicken. Its not meat, so why is it made to look like it ? Beer, wine, and spirits have alcohol in it, otherwise its a soft drink, so why call it something like Tennants Extra alcohol free ?

I like Asdas lemon and Lime squash. I find it quite thirst quenching, which any beer definitely isn't. And Tea.

They are a healthy refreshing alternative to soft drinks full of sugar or sweeteners which I will not eat. Look at the labels/ingredients for your squash, it's ultra processed.

That is a good point of course, a lot of them are more of a sugar solution held together with E numbers. Makes sense to check the label.

Yeah, veggie stuff pretending to be meat is just weird. Most 0% drinks start out in their alcoholic form though and are post processed to remove it so it seems ok to call them 0% variants of the original. And, it's much easier to sell if people are familiar with the original.

Probably the machismo situation drives alcohol free drinks too. If it looks like beer, then it is apparently more 'manly' than asking for a soft drink.

I'd rather ask for a soft drink than an alcohol free abomination. The former wouldn't shame me.

My Nan used to do it - in old Corona bottles - they used to "smash" on there own - in her pantry.

She used to give it to us as kids - but with yeast/sugar/water/ginger in it - it must have been alcholic...?

Be honest most non alcholic drinks have so much Saffron in them - they leave an after taste.

I would rather drink cold tap water...

When it is the first thing you do when you get home from work - it can be habit forming - and can soon run a way into a problem.

Giving my liver a three day rest a week - can't be a bad thing. Can it?
